Outreach and Events
Outreach & Volunteering
My journey in science outreach began with the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO), where I actively volunteered in a range of public engagement events. Over the years, I have contributed to numerous astronomical outreach sessions focused on solar and lunar eclipses — both in-person and online. Some of the memorable events include the Solar Observation Session at CAN InfoTech 2019, the Solar Eclipse Observation in 2019, and the Annular Solar Eclipse of 2021. These programs were not only educational but also widely attended by the public, and I was proud to support them through live outreach efforts.
My involvement expanded through collaborations with organizations such as the Nepal Research and Collaboration Center, as well as school and college astronomy clubs including Southwestern College (Basundhara), Mitrashree School, Vinayak School (Bhaktapur), and many more. I facilitated both physical and virtual outreach sessions during major celestial events, aiming to make science accessible and exciting for all age groups.
In addition to observational events, I volunteered in organizing and managing astronomy Olympiads, science competitions, speech contests, and drawing competitions across Nepal. Between 2019 and 2021, I also contributed in various office roles at NASO, supporting the smooth execution of outreach and educational initiatives.
I was actively involved in organizing the National Space Meet in Nepal, a significant collaborative event held by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). During my teaching tenure, I helped establish two science clubs in the schools I taught at, furthering science outreach and nurturing curiosity among students. The collaborative programs I initiated between schools and communities helped build strong, engaging networks that extended beyond the classroom.
One of the most consistent outreach activities I contributed to was the weekly Astronomical Bulletin show by NASO. From writing scripts to performing on-camera, editing, and producing the final videos, I handled multiple aspects of the program, which was a valuable learning experience in both science communication and media production.
Looking back from 2025, it's hard to list every activity I was involved in — there were so many meaningful moments. So, instead, I’ve chosen to write this summary and include a selection of photo collages below that capture some of these vibrant outreach memories.
Outreach remains close to my heart, and I look forward to continuing this journey — now in a more structured and documented form — as I move forward.
